Evolution of Images

Question  How is digital photography changing our relationship with images?

Answer  A series of in-depth interviews with consumers in their homes and workplaces revealed long-standing roles of images: capturing events for future memories; sharing with loved ones; personal creative expression.

Digital photography intensified some of these experiences, by shortening the gaps in time and space for reliving and sharing images, and introduced the new experience of immediate review and edit.  It also created new image experiences: a grandparent's virtual experience of watching a grandchild grow day by day; an extra brain, able to store limitless odds and ends.  In short, digital imaging expands the scope of what is "image-worthy" from the special to the mundane.
